Why “Sounds From the Other Side” Is Not An Album – Wizkid Explains

“Everyone calls it an album, but it’s like an EP to me,” Wizkid said on the controversial status of studio work.
Wizkid recently joined Ebro Darden on Beats 1 to talk about his new project and journey into music.

According to the Nigerian recording artist, “Sounds From the Other Side” is a collection of works he’s done over the last couple years, breaking into America.
“Everyone calls it an album, but it’s like an EP to me,” Wizkid said on the controversial status of studio work.
The fans and media have described SFTOS as an album, EP, and mixtape on several occasions, following the official release last week.
On why the project is not an album to him, Wizkid said: “When I decide to make this record, I was going to put it out for free. Then a friend of mine came into the room one day when I was recording and he came with like a business partner of his.
“They heard the music and were like “Woah, you about to put this music out for free? Hell No”.”
“And he was like yo I’m putting my money behind that,” Wizkid added.
“Sounds From the Other Side” features Drake, Chris Brown, Trey Songz, TY Dolla $ign, Major Lazer and Bucie.
The 12-track studio work contains the 27-year-old’s previous tracks, “Daddy Yo“, “Sweet Love”, “Come Closer” featuring Drake, “African Bad Gyal” featuring Chris Brown and “Naughty Ride” with Major Lazer.
Wizkid told Ebro he got into music at the age of ten, listening to a whole lot of rap music. He also revealed that he’s holding onto more songs he worked on with TY Dolla $ign.
Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, and Damian Marley are the first choice of artistes Wizkid would love to get in the studio with.
