‘Nothing Is Impossible’ For Atletico Madrid – Simeone

Diego Simeone says “nothing is impossible” for his Atletico Madrid side after Saul Niguez’s strike all-but wrapped up a top three finish in La Liga for Los Colchoneros.
Saturday’s 1-0 win over Eibar sent Atletico five points clear of fourth-placed Sevilla on the La Liga table, with two league games left to play.
Finishing third or above will mean that Simeone’s side will once again participate in the Champions League next year. The Atleti boss, however, remains firmly focused on this year’s edition of the competition, where his side heads into Wednesday’s semifinal second leg looking to overturn a 3-0 deficit against reigning champions Real Madrid.
“On Wednesday we have a very difficult game, impossible for many, but not for us, nothing is impossible” Simeone said.
“They are two different games, we were beaten the other day and the following days have been difficult.

“Now we need to be ready to play in a huge game.”
Atletico made a slow start to the season and fell out of the title race early on, but Simeone praised his players for remaining focused and ensuring that they finished the La Liga season as one of the form sides in the competition.
“I am proud to have these players, it makes me happy to see the atmosphere around the club,” Simeone added.
“We started the season poorly and lost regularly, so to get up and continue fighting has put us in an important place and we are looking forward to closing it out in the next game.”
Goalscorer Niguez thanked the Atletico fans after the match, vowing that the side will do all they can to bridge the three-goal gap in Wednesday’s semifinal.
“People are always with us,” Niguez said, according to Atletico’s official website.
“People support us and we’re going to give our all on the field, go for the win and try to come back.”
